Swim Training:
We have coached swimming sessions for club members on Saturdays from 5pm-6pm at the Oswestry Leisure Centre. We have 3 club coaches and 1 BTF coach available. This session is also available for juniors who are able to swim a minimum of 100 meters. This costs £2 for Seniors and £1 for Juniors.
Club
members also take the opportunity to swim with experienced coach Bob Walker, who
is currently at Rhyn Park School on a Wednesday from 7pm-8pm or 8pm-9pm and on a
Friday from 8pm-9pm. Bob also has insured open water swim sessions in the
spring in Ellesmere Mere.
Bob's sessions cost £4.
Cycle Training:
We meet every Thursday for Bike Training during the summer months. We alternate weeks between a club ride out on the hills and Brick Training. Both session start at 6.30pm. For the club ride we meet at Oswestry Leisure Centre and for Brick Training we meet at the Marches School. For Brick Training you will need your bike, turbo, bike shoes and running shoes. This is a coached session taken by Chris Garbett to improve you ability to run off the bike. To find out which weeks we are at the school and which weeks we are on the bike email Laura on: lauratri2012 or Chris on: christri2012. (add the 'at' sign and oswestryolympians.co.uk)
We also meet on Saturdays at 1.30pm at The Oswestry Leisure Centre for a 25 – 40 mile bike ride. Ensure you have a spare inner tube (or two), tyre levers, gas canisters or a pump. Do not rely on other providing this essential equipment. The club also encourages the use of a cycle helmet.
OOTri members can have one trial ride in the Friday night time trials run by Oswestry Paragon CC. These run from early May to the beginning of September on a ten mile course from Queens Head to Gobowen and back. Membership of OPCC costs just £5 and enables you to compete in all time trials as well as giving you a 10% discount at Stuart Barkley Cycles. Club details can be found at www.oswestry-paragon.co.uk. Running:
Structured training is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Depending on the time of year we would run in either well lit streets or off road, i.e. the Oswestry Racecourse.
Monday
Meet at the Oswestry Leisure Centre at 6.30pm prompt for easy paced running combined with efforts. This training night caters for all abilities as beginners can choose how many of the efforts they are able to complete.
Wednesday
The time of year and weather will dictate how long the club runs on a Wednesday night but it will average at about 7-8 miles. To cater for all abilities the session can split into three groups to allow people to run at their own pace.
Friday
Meet at Ellesmere Central Car Park at 6.15pm prompt. Gentle pace of around 5-6 miles split into groups.
