The essence of the Junior
Awards Scheme is to ensure that all Juniors have their effort and
achievement recognised by the club at the Presentation Evening in the autumn.
One of the aims of the club
is to encourage athletes of all abilities to participate in, and
enjoy the sport. With this aim in mind, the award scheme has been
created, based on the old Five Star awards, using a points system to
recognise achievement at all levels. All athletes are therefore
awarded a certificate ranging from 1 star to 5 star, in the "3
event", pentathlon or decathlon categories, based on their known
performances throughout the season.
The
"3 Event " Award - Events for this award must
include one track and one field event plus one other.
The
Pentathlon Award - Comprises one track event, one throw,
one jump and two others.
The
Decathlon Award - similar to pentathlon, but with seven
other events.
DECATHLON IS NOT
APPLICABLE TO UNDER 11's
Qualifying track events for
Under 11's may include one recognised distance from each of the
following categories:
Short sprint - up to 100m.

and up to 800m.

awards we also present an Outstanding Pentathlete Certificate to the
boy and girl who have achieved the highest pentathlon score in each
age group, recognising the all round ability of these athletes. To
gain this award the five events must include no more than two events
from each category i.e., track, jumps and throws.
