Triple
Jump - The Basics.
·
Unlike other jumps, Triple Jump does not require a big explosive effort.
·
It is a continuous sequence of movements.
·
It requires a very low take-off angle, (about 16 degrees), and very
high running speed.
·
Think of the three phases as : high, higher, highest.
·
When learning the event, it is worth almost ignoring the hop and
concentrating on the step and jump phases.
·
The hop should be like a stone skimming over the water.
·
Make ground contact just ahead of the hips, with a flat foot in a
pawing action.
·
Be patient, wait for the ground to come up to the foot rather than
reaching for it.
·
Get off the ground as fast as possible. Think of it as a take off
rather than a landing.
·
The free leg must be brought through powerfully, flexed at the knee.
·
The arms should move through the largest possible range of motion
and be kept away from the body to aid lateral balance.
·
The body should be kept tall throughout.
